I would suggest reading this.

It depends on how long the 16k mile CMC has been sitting around. With brake fluid (and systems that rely on brake fluid) it's not about the miles - it's about the time, the humidity it's been exposed to - and if the part has ever seen fresh fluid in it's lifetime; 16,000 miles can cover years in a car like the S2000.

When in doubt with a brake or brake fluid reliant part - spend the extra cash and buy a new part.

Brake fluid absorbs water, and even if the part has sitting on a shelf in a climate controlled room - that part has a shelf life once brake fluid has touched its internals.

BTW - THANK YOU for using the search and doing the research - an example for all.

95% of s2k CMCs leak.

Keep your fluid clean and the leak will stop. no need to replace it.

^^ Good advice.
I change/bleed my fluid ~yearly (if I'm in country) - and have never experienced a leak. Original 2003 equipment with ATE DOT 4 fluid.

Unrelated:
Billman: your valve adjustment is still spot on since you swapped out the intake retainers in 2008 - I checked the lash again last weekend... no adjustments needed - thanks again.

You were also right about the brakes (Brakeman calipers) as well - there were frozen pistons in both calipers. I had them rebuilt and the brakes are like new. Storage, no matter how well climate controlled still allows moisture over time. Replaced the brake master cylinder as well - seals were bad. The car was stored for 3 years while I was overseas in the Middle East (and associated training)

Awesome, sounds good
Billman, would you still recommend Honda DOT 4 brake fluid from motorcycles for the CMC? or other kind of fluid?

Thanks!
