Just starting to live my first summer in TX, im starting to notice that my AC is just not cutting it. It does work and blows pretty cold, but i'd like to see if i can get it blow more colder air or possibly more air in general.


Any ideas on how one would do this?

i feel you but i think it takes at least 10 min of driving to get really cold. it also doesnt help that s2000 has alot of leather.

maybe get tinted windows? low freon?

If you haven't replaced the cabin air filter in a while, check it out. If it is dirty and clogged up it will lower the amount of air blowing through the vents.

Mine is at the dealer now getting looked at for the second time. I had a 40 minute car ride and ac was full blast. By the end I was happy to get out of the car as it felt better outside with a bit of wind.

With such a small cabin it shouldn't take long to cool it down.

Berlina probably makes it even harder to cool down but if your A/C system checks out to OEM specs (refrigerant level, fan speed, thermostat etc) I wouldn't mess with it. I know you can hack the system to overfill the refrigerant or stop the compressor from cycling but you run the risk of shortening the life of a very expensive component.

My AC has always worked well. It cools the car down much quicker than any of my sedans or trucks but then again it's got a much smaller cabin space.

I'd check your Freon levels & the cabin filter

Well, the dealer found that the heater control valve needed adjustment. So far so good, it seems colder than before.

This is so very true!

Around here I can't believe how often it gets clogged up, I have ti change mine every 2-years for sure, otherwise the heat just sort of seeps out, clearly not being blown out.

It's 2010, when was your cabin filter last replaced?

I think it's called the "expansion valve" it's a valve inside the heater core box that can eventually stick or get clogged. Cheap part, pain in the @$$ to get to.

tinting the windows work well. also, a hardtop (expensive) would help cut heat penetration lots as the softtop is very thin and has heat coming in from there.
