I never said to not beat on the car. I beat on my car all the time. My only reason for saying what i did was because he knew the car had an oil leak and let it go for a few months. I know money always plays a factor, hence why i havnt changed my ap1 retainers for ap2 in my own car.

But a vtec selonoid gasket is a few bucks and a few mins easy fix. An oil leak is an oil leak. "Untold months and months of it spraying oil all over my cat o2 sensor". How is that not your fault?

Yes.. I admit. A large portion of my cars problems has stemmed from my poor maintenence or preventitive mantenence performance and therefore I will put to rest this discussion of blame and who has the right to drive or should drive performance vehicles and any other minor controversy my stupid little story has started...

I am sorry for being stupid

I am sorry for being angry

Please forgive me

I appreciate all of your time and help.

May the force be with you all.

Amen, and in case I don't see you again today, Good Morning, Good Afternoon, Good Evening, and Good NIGHT.

To the OP, every diagnosis you have made about your car (this caused that and such) has been completely wrong, and you are being throw way off track.

Your mechanic is incompetent.

It's time to start from scratch.

1- install a fresh new battery.

2- turn the key on, do NOT start the engine or crank it at all. Make sure the CEL goes on, then off.

3- measure your battery voltage, write it down

4- after the car has sat for a minute with the key on, scan it for any codes hard or pending

5- if you show no codes, now you may start the engine (note if it cranks fast and strong). if you get it to run, measure the voltage at the battery while running. Write it down.

Post your results, follow my advice, and you'll get your car fixed.

1 static battery volts
2 volts with engine running
3 cranking speed and strength, whether it be weak, moderate, or strong and fast

Billman250. Thank you for your advice and plan.. I didn't read that until I had already have my car towed to a new mechanic I've never been too, but is mentioned many times throughout these forums as one of the best s2000 specialists and honest/ ethical / never over priced shop. After the shop owner/ head mechanic took all the background info even before seeing the car he said he will do what he always does with cars that wont start is start from the most basic and continue until the car is back to 'new' if possible.. of course if no compression or whatever major time to just start over rebuild/ replace engine failure is discovered. He said Spark, Fuel, Compression.

I will be posting as soon as I get info from him.. probably early next week. I'm hoping and praying and would appreciate anyone else's prayer/ positive thoughts etc that it's not any major head/ block failures. Once again, thank you for your time and help thus far... more to come soon!

Ok. Big update and urgent advice requested. Now a well recommended honda s2000 mechanic has determined that the engine will not start because the engine has jumped timing and the timing chain tensioner has failed. So he says he can't tell if I floated or bent a valve or other major mechanical internal failure has occurred until I authorize him to replace the timing chain and tensioner. Should I spend that money and risk it being wasted because the engine ends up being screwed internally and not worth rebuilding or should I ask him to attempt to rule out most of those failures by say removing the oil pan and or using scopes to look inside each cylinder etc etc and then move forward with timing chain and tensioner replacement??

if you turn the crank over by hand does it bind? These tensioners do make noise but I don't think I have ever seen a failure. Somehow I suspect a lose cam wheel bolt. Ask the mechanic if you get a refund if the TCT and timing chain does not fix the problems. I have also never heard of valve float on s2000, maybe bent if you overreved. This part scares me " So he says he can't tell if I floated or bent a valve or other major mechanical internal failure has occurred until I authorize him to replace the timing chain and tensioner." If he did a compression test that would show damage to head or valve. He can just pull the head, he will remove the valve cover in the precess and have a nice look. I dunno, all of your mechanics sound kind of scary.

It is near impossible for an s2k engine to jump time no matter how bad the tct is.

Nevermind a refund. You dont pay until the car is perfect.
