I started my car this evening and the Maintenance Required light flashes for 3-4 sec after starting before going off. What could cause this? I changed my oil 2,000 miles ago, and it is full and clean. I reset the light with the process (hold Trip button for 10 sec. with key off, turn key, hold for 10 sec)
and it hasn't happened since. But what would cause the light to flash?...

Not resetting the maintenance minder. It flashes when you're close to time for the maintenance (according to the minder which is basically based on mileage). As stated in other maintenance light threads, it's no big deal. It's not a CEL or anything like that.

It flashes when it reaches a mileage interval. You reached it. All it is is a mileage counter. so just reset it when you change your oil, even if its not on.

Key off. hold trip button. key on...continue holding trip till light stops flashing.
