Default Maintenance required light

Ok, Ive had my car 8 years and ive reset this light many times over the 107k miles i have driven it. Over the weekend the maintenance required light on the dash lit up. So nbd i said as soon as i got home i went and did the standard reset routine. Key in off hold trip button turn ignition to on wait for light to go out. Well all it does is blink off for half a second and than stays lit?

Any ideas?

To clarify the standard routine to reset is not clearing it.

Thanks

with over 100K miles i'm pretty sure you've learned to take care of your car. let the light burn out so you won't ever have to mess with it again.

I have to hold the trip button for over a minute sometimes. It's hit or miss.

Turn the headlights off if they are on..

Drive a few miles and try again. Driving and lights off will usually take care of it.
