I last changed the engine oil on January 25 and at that time the maintenance minder was reset to 100%. I haven't changed the oil since, and have driven 3909 miles and the maintenance minder is only down to 30% as of today.

Do you follow the maintenance minder? It seemed like an awfully long time before it would get to 15% and remind me that I need to change the oil.

Anyways I decided to change the engine oil, transmission fluid and differential fluid today. It's going to be a routine for me to change the transmission and differential every oil change as those fluids don't cost much and it doesn't hurt to do it more often.

I used the following:

Castrol GTX 10W30
OEM Honda Filter
OEM Honda MTF2
Mobil1 75W90 Gear Oil

Car has only about 8,000 miles so I'm still using conventional oil.

I just go by the oil life % and change it when the wrench comes on at 15%. I don't plan on running synthetic unless I switch to forced induction later on. It's excessive to change the transfluid and diff every oil change but if it makes u feel better go for it.

^^ neeed to get a pix of my S at my toyota work as well.. looks good.. but i dont have no fancy toyota fender cover lol how many racks you guys have. looks like a huge line of cars i see in the back ground or those just parking (if so damn thats nice indoors)

toyota/lexus oil change has always been 5000 miles and i have changed oil in toyotas with 3000 miles that still come out goldish..

i follow the reminder.. since it based on many things that affect oil life i guess ie temp/revs and so on..

one thing i do like to know is if the minder goes of off time.. like i drive my S once or twice a week now that i got my DD back up and maybe put 20 miles at most each drive. so this can be a while before i get some mileage

We got about 100 stalls, only half of those have lifts for now, only 13 techs here. I get like 3 stalls to my self aha. I dont think the oil life indicator will take into account time sitting, so unless you daily drive the s2k I'm not sure it'll be accurate.

I don't know if I'd trust the minder 100%. I would go to the minder or absolutely no more than 7500 miles/6 months for conventional oil.
I use synthetic (Amsoil) and still change mine out at 5000 to 7500 miles, but have a lot of life left in my oil when it comes out. It's hard for me to go much longer on an oil change (it was hard to break the 3000 mile oil change habit alone!). I need to change my mindset though. I'm considering going 10,000 miles on my next oil change. Lets see if I can break the habit!
A quality synthetic should be changed out every year, regardless of the mileage. I treat the cheaper synthetics (like standard Mobil 1) just like a conventional oil.

i use the the oil life % (or will.. have only changed the oil once so far), but also randomly check the oil level.

I don't have the fancy "Maintenance Minder" that you guys have, I just have to old light that flashes at me after a certain number of miles. Either way, I totally disregard it and perform oil changes when I think they're appropriate, based on time passed, miles driven and/or conditions driven (i.e., I change the oil more frequently if most of my miles have been track miles, and less frequently if most of my miles have been cruising miles).

You do it your way, I'll do it mine. I don't see the point of changing it before and after every track event, when I only put about 100-200 miles on the car at the track. I use quality oil and my engine is in good shape, so there's no point in replacing good oil after 200 miles.

i agree! I change mine every 2500 miles or earlier depending on how its been driven, this might seem excesive but i'm anul.
