Maintenance at 43k?
I have an 04 s2k thats about to hit 43k soon and just wanted to ask what kind of maintenance if any should i start looking into. I bought the car last June with 27k. At 30k i flushed out the tranny fluid and added GMSMFM, flushed the diff. and added Mobil 1 diff fluid. Should i look into flushing those fluids again soon? I have never flushed the coolant, never checked the spark plugs. Should i be flushing and replacing the spark plugs soon or do i still have time before those need to be touched? Also the car came with a K&N filter, don't think it was new at the time, but should i start looking into buying a cleaner kit and cleaning it? If there is anything else that I should be looking into please inform me. I'm sure looking at the schedule maintenance book is the quick way to go but just thought i'd see if anyone tend to do things early or don't follow it closely.
Thanks

Reading your owner's manual and following the prescribed maintenance schedule (normal or severe) is the minimum that you should do. Some of us do shorter service intervals on some fluids (diff, tranny, clutch, brake) than is probably neccessary, but gives us peace of mind. Your coolant is good for ten years/100K+ miles. I run the K&N filter and plan to change it rather than clean it at 30-50K miles. I say change it because I never know how much oil to apply after cleaning it. Too little won't provide adequate filtering and too much may damage O2 sensors (I learned this on another one of my vehicles). K&N says their S2K filter is good for 50K miles.
Since there isn't much to do at 45K miles, you might want to get your car's wheels aligned also. Page 188 has the best specs I've found so far for street driving. Make sure you have them align it exactly to spec with you in the driver's seat. You won't feel like you wasted your money!
