GL5 specifies EP additives where GL4 aka transmission fluid does not.

TL;DR synchromesh fluid and 75w80 gl4 oils are ok to use in the transmission. GL5 85w90 up to 75w140 is ok on the diff. The two gears being steel benefit greatly from EP additives like MoS2 WF2 etc.
Do not use GL5 fluid in the transmission and do not use GL4 fluid in the diff.
Transmission uses GL4 diff uses GL5.
GL = gear lubricant, the number specifies the amount of phosphorus/Sulphur ep.
