Default Lubricating caliper slide pins

Is this a part of the normal maintainace for the S2ki?

I did a search and couldn't find a DIY or FAQ on this.

I have changed brakes on other vehicles before so I am not new to doing this, I just have never done it on an S2ki before. Is there anything unique with these brakes?

What are the torque specs on the caliper slide pins?

Any special type of lube to use?

Thanks

Thanks for the torque specs. I am going to take the wheels off tonight to see whats going on.

Any other input would be appreciated.

We use a special floater pin grease at my school, it's just a generic high heat lubricant made by Permitex I believe. Seems to work on everything from Dodge Rams to Mazda Miatas. Just my 2 cents, if the s2000 is relatively new though I'd say go with the Honda recommendation for good measure, at least then when your brakes fail and the car explodes you can blame Honda for recommending the wrong stuff. That's in no way meant to insult you, just saying it's an easy way to cover your back as a just in case (and it's a joke as well).

Thanks for the input.

The slide pin is encased in a rubber boot.

Do I just pull the pin out of the boot?

I just don't want to break any (Boot) seals or anything lol.

Thanks

Thanks I'll try that tomorrow. I am calling it a night for now.

I am not trying to rebuild the caliper. I just want to lubricate the slide pins as normal maintainance.

It seems that it isn't a part of normal maintainance because I did a search and came up empty handed.

I removed the lower bolt that holds in the slide pin for the passenger side front. The slide pin seems to be moving in and out smoothly.

I am I wasting my time by trying to lubricate the slide pins?

Thanks

lubricating the slide pins are NOT part of normal maintenence but it IS part of a proper brake job.
they should be lubed every time brake pads are replaced. except in cases of swapping out pads for/during track events.

The sliding pin grease that comes with a caliper rebuild set is Niglube RM (orange).
Info about Niglube RM:
http://www.nippon-grease.co.jp/en/pr...rease/g02.html
On another website I found this:
Niglube™ RM is described as a grease based on poly alkylene glycol ether and marketed by Nippon Grease Company (Osaka, Japan).
Its not your basic lithium based grease.

The caliper rebuild kit was about $25 for each end of the car when I last bought them.
What caliper rebuild kit did you purchase? Is this a Honda part/kit?

I heard 3m silicone paste is really good for caliper pins.
