hell, i'm sure you can do this while its in gear, but all your doing is making more work for yourself and a damn good workout. this has nothing to do with the driveshaft, just pretty much the axles and diff assembly.

if your LSD was messed up or broken, the car would be pretty much undriveable. our LSD is a torsen unit, which uses small gears. if one of those gears lost a tooth or snapped part of it off, you'd know, cuz your diff would go boom and your car wouldn't go anywhere.

turning the wheels by hand WILL NOT be possible if the car is in gear, as I explained above.

So for sanity's sake I went out and jacked my car up and it is exactly as I explained. You were turning the drive shaft, that's why the opposite side was not turning at the same rate. If we had a locked diff then you all would be correct.

i wonder if it's when you try to turn BOTH wheels the same direction that you can't because it's in gear. (i've done this enough times you'd think i'd remember)
