What is the "clutch assist" you're talking about?
IMO there is no such thing in "our" Torsen T-2, there are "thrust washers" between the side gears, but they are not made of friction clutch type material but hardened steel IIRC.
IMO the Torsen does not require any friction modifier, just good GL-5 oil.
Oil that can't handle the power will - in time - make the Torsen behave strangely, especially around tight corners, making the inner wheel turn as fast as the outer wheel (it won't allow differentiation) and pushes the car out of the corner.
I've experienced that first hand.
Fresh SAE 90 GL-5 oil "fixed" it instantly.

Anyway, if it's the clutch assist in the Torsen you're hearing I'll bet it goes away with a fresh load of oil.

If not, a touch of friction modifier in the diff might smooth out the clutch action and stop the noise.

I read somewhere that the S2000 differential has small clutches to speed up it's action. Seems like there was a picture too. For some reason I took the source to be reliable, and I've never actually looked at the breakdown of our diff in the shop manual to see if there was really any difference from a regular Torsen. Right now my manual is at the shop and I can't look, but if you say we have a standard T2 with no clutches, I consider that to be a reliable enough source. I'll just ask you if you're *sure* our LSD isn't a little different from the standard T2? If you're sure, that's good enough for me.
I do know that unless there are some kind of clutches in the LSD, friction modifiers won't help, but I didn't know a Torsen could get noisy with older oil. The reason I've never seen it is no doubt because I change fluids at frequent intervals. When the oil gets old in the Torsen, does it actually "click" like the OP described? His discription sounds exactly like a description of a cold clutch-type LSD (or one full of well used lube) on a smaller scale.
LOL, I could have sworn that I read about the clutches in the same sheet Vspc2nr linked above.

OK, I think I figured this out. Apparently at some point (probably while looking at alternate LSD's for the S2000) I got the impression that the S2000's had the T2-R. I'm thinking that I must have read somewhere that the S2000 had the T2-R, but it doesn't really matter where I got my mistaken impressions. Thanks for clearing it up SpitfireS.
The PDF file describing the T2-R is here. For those that don't car to read the whole thing ...
[QUOTE]The TORSEN T2-R takes the T-2's performance to the next level.
