I can not take credit for that find
It may have been that I've posted about it first here (I'm not sure), it was my Honda dealer that was (is) using it as a "Honda" diff oil and there is where I learned about it.
Last time I was reading about the Torsen T-2 (the one "we" have) on the Torsen website I also found (and posted) that the T-2 is compatible with ATF as well.
(this is a while ago, Torsen website was down yesterday, haven't checked yet)
It may be the hypoid gear set-up that "needs" the GL-5 oil.
Allthough I have peronal experience with a "failing" diff fluid making my Torsen act strange during turns.
It felt like the inner wheel was locked to the outer too much and forcing the car out of the turn, under light throttle.
First, of course, I checked tire pressure, lug nuts, because the behaviour appeared almost overnight without hitting anything I ruled allignment out.
Then I was thinking of a power steering problem.
Driving (and thinking) along with it I came to the conclusion it was the diff, it made no noise or anything.
Putting Honda Marine Gear oil in (by the dealer mentioned earlier) "fixed" that instantly.
Does the OP recognize any of this?
Your discovery of the Honda marine division fluid was a great find.
