I got mine lowered to 5800 with a VAFC-II on a DYNO and I gained like 15 WHP with my mods , and its good but I don't Understand Why you want to lower it so much? then you shouldn't have VTEC and just have a High rpm cam.....IMO ....Also by lowering it to 5800 I get a smoother VTEC engagement ....

Once you change your Vtec engagement you'll have to change your fuel map from that Vtec rpm on correct?

You need to get the thing tuned on a dyno and adjust VTEC accordingly. Some motors don't respond well to lowering VTEC, others do. Whatever the case, just do whatever gives you the most power.
There's nothing inherently dangerous about lowering the VTEC point, but it IS dangerous to use a VAFC without it being tuned specifically for your motor.
