Low oil pressure on start with Mobil 1
I just switched to mobil 1 about 700 miles ago (at 14500), and since then, when I start the car the oil light comes on for about a half second then goes away. Occasionally it flickets during that half second. Is this normal with Mobil 1? oil level is fine and vtec feels normal.

i know that my m3 does that on every startup...haven't noticed it on the stook tho. i run amsoil 0w-30, which is lighter than the mobil1 when cold, so i dont think it is "just" the oil. it could be one of three things:
1. your engine is loosing vacuum right at the beginning for some reason
2. your oil pump takes a sec to spin up
3. you just never noticed it before but its normal
2 and 3 i cant say anything about, but 1 is either the oil filter seal or the oil fill cap. did you change the oil yourself? did you "wet" the o-ring with some oil before seating the filter? also the oil fill cap can easily trigger the pressure light if its not very tight.
i know this may not be much help, but hey...its all i can suggest
good luck,
bassem

What oil filter? Not all of them have anti-flowback devices built into them or the one you have is leaking.
It's normally going to take a brief time to build pressure but the brand of filter can make a noticeable difference. I noticed the same thing on my then-new '75 Fiat X1/9 whe using an AC-Delco filter...

Its the OEM Honda filter. Havent noticed anything leaking, and the level is fine. It wasnt happening before (with the previous 10000 miles being Mobil non-synthetic oil). I dont think its the switch or anything, it seems a convenitent time to break (WHILE I was changing the oil).

Got an oil Change with Mobil One four days ago and have not had any problems. In my opinion the cars runs better now with the synthetic oil. Especially above 6500 RPM
