ap1's are known to burn oil, if i may suggest using a different oil, our cars adapt to different oil weights at times.

I haven't had this car for too long, but it's a million times better with oil than my BB6. Still check 1-2 times a week though after it has been sitting on flat ground over night.

i wouldn't say that quite yet, a lot of ap1's as i've stated before burned oil regardless of the brand.

Do you let your car sit for a while on level ground before you check?

From low to high should only need 1 quart

Also, if your burning 1 quart every 1000 miles, you have a issue with your car. Unless those 1000 miles are track miles
1 quart per 1,000 miles is acceptable according to honda.

however, that is the maximum threshold.

i burn about 1 quart per 1,000 miles. my compression and leakdown numbers have been fine.

krank vents are similar to your pcv valve, it is a valve that allows air to travel only in one direction and blocks flow for the other direction.

by using this valve in the breather tube (and the pcv tube) it creates a vacuum in the crankcase, thereby reducing the oil that gets past the piston rings and getting consumed in the cylinder.

what i don't like about it is that the vacuum sucks on all the seals. i'd rather just top off the oil.

I got an oil change 400 miles ago where they put 5 qt of oil in the car. I just checked the oil and it's at the 2nd notch at the bottom, is that a normal reading? I've driven about 200-250 miles only on local streets 4-45 mph (occasional stop and go) rest on highway. I haven't hit VTEC since the new oil was put in (love heavy traffic).....yet.

Didn't you check the dipstick reading right after the oil change?
