Low oil level question
#1
yesterday morning before I left to the 2F2F event in Irvine, the oil level was "OK" and this morning before I left to work, the oil level was really low, almost 1 qt low.
I was wondering what problems will arise due to this in the long run? What can I do to fix the problem?
The car was under 1.5 hours of drive, none stop from San Diego to Irvine. Then 2 hours in the LA traffic trying to get to my uncle 's house from the event. Then last, another 3.5 hours of none stop from LA to San Diego. The car never hit more than 6k rpm.
thanks

Sounds like you did 4 or 500 miles in one day. Is that right? A full quart in that amount of time/miles is high. I recomend you fill it to the top line of the dip stick and check it every 100 miles to see if it is really burning oil at that rate. Always check it on a level surface and be sure to wait a few minutes after you shut off the engine as you are trying to track it as closely as possible. Keep a written record of how many little check marks down from the top the level gets. If you can verify the car is burning a quart every 500 miles, you will want to take it to the dealer. Are you still under warranty?

the car has 16,800 miles on it and that day I did around 280 miles. I will do what you said and I will report back tomorrow.
The S2000 is my daily car and every week I put like 200 miles on it and I usually put like 200 ml of oil every month but this time I don't know what happen. Maybe is because it was under constant driving.
thanks

Wow, that is a lot of oil for 280 miles. Plus, it sounds like an unusually large use. Don't try to conclude anything from this one event until you monitor it for month.

mustangkiller also if you were in v-tec for most of those miles that might explain most of the oil loss
There seems to be a pretty directly proportional relationship between time spent in VTEC and oil consumption.
