Hi all, i just dyno my s2000 for the first time on saturday. Max Power recorded was 125.3kW@8417RPM. a 30% decrease from honda's claimed crank 177kW. Is this normal? I was kinda expecting 140kW at the wheels.
Other Conditions:
Was a very Hot Day
Had a Fan to simulate cool air entering engine
RON98 Fuel (98 octane rating)
10,007km mileage.
Any comments would be greatful. cheers!

Kid,
What kind of dynomometer did you use? Different chassis dynos read differently. They are best used to compare differences before and after, not to assess absolute power accurately.

That is an unusually low reading.. normally you would expect 140-150 KW. You have to calculate 15-20% in drive train losses so your expectation was in line. There is enough difference in dynos and operation that a 5% variation is not unusual, but the 30% that you are seeing makes that test suspect.

Well on the sheet on paper its said:
"Torque and Power corrected in accordance with ISO1585"
but here is the weird part:
Peak Torque: 394.5NM@6633RPM
Very weird

Definitely something wrong here, as that equates to nearly 300 lbs-ft of torque. That's twice the crank torque of the S2K engine, yet it is noticeably less than the actual wheel torque in any gear (Corrected wheel torque is usually around 130 lbs-ft or 175 Nm). Even 6th gear should show about 600 Nm or so at that rpm at the wheels (actual).
If your engien really was producing 300 lbs-ft at 6600 rpm, your corrected hp should have been int eh vicinity of 375 hp, or 280 kW.
Strange.
