is anyone else's stock radiator fan loud? i pulled the car out the garage and went in to get something and i herad the fan on from so far away. never realized how loud it sounded from the outside. not sure if its normal?

hey sorry forgot about this thread. yeah its def the radiator fan. when the sound came on again i opened the hood and made sure both fans were on and they were. the driver fan was quiet but the passenger side was loud and making a whirring sound

still never figured this out lol is it normal? nothing out of the ordinary sound wise but just loud.

Question Does both fan turn with the AC off? if it does then someone put a fan switch on it. but yes i had my S2 for over 6 year and when both are on the are loud.The plastic on rad is changing color and harding so im gonna change it Soon with the fans with aftermaket ones.

It's been a while since I paid attention to the fans, but I recall that one of the fans comes on with the A/C or defroster. The other fan is triggered by an electric thermostat on the block. If you have both fans running, the A/C compressor is running.

If you are standing close to your car with a hot engine and the A/C or defroster on, then it will seem somewhat loud. But with a cold engine and the fan switch off, it should be quiet.

If you want to know if your fans are louder than others, find an owner near you and compare the two.
