Loud noise on highway
Hi guys, while I was driving on the highway just cruising, I heard a loud noise from the rear of my car. It sounded almost like metal hitting metal. My guess is that it may have been a really big rock that went under my car. Should I be worried and have my car taken to a shop?
Thanks for looking!

I think you need to tell us more. Is it still making the noise? Did you notice that you ran something over?
If some road debris hit the underside of your car, then you are more than likely fine. Unless it was something really big that you hit very hard, then you might have damaged your oil pan or differential case.

Oops sorry!
No, it is not making the noise, it was just that one incident. Since then the car seems to be normal. This happened at night, and I didn't see anything which is why I think it was probably a rock.
I just wanted to make sure it isn't serious, thanks for the reply!

Obviously you're worried about it enough to post this thread. I'm amazed at some of the questions people ask on the internet. How are we supposed to tell you if you should be worried or not? Get under the car and look for damage. If you don't know what to look for take it to somebody that does. You're welcome.
