Default Lots of noises!

2002 S2000 47,000miles

I was wondering if anyone has had these problems and any sloutions would be wonderful!

1.) There is an annoying rattle under the dash. It occurs mainly during low RPM's (1500-3000)-especially when "gear braking". I am sure that the RPM relavance is only that the engine creates the right vibration to create the noise under the dash. I would like to find a quick fix to this that does not require taking off the dash. The only fix that I can think of is a Cat-Back exhaust and a killer sound upgrade!

2.) Ever since I have owned the car, there is a squeaking sound coming from under the hood somewhere. When the hood is released (still latched) and I am driving slowly, it does not make this noise. Under the same circumstances except that the hood is latched, it squeaks like a mouse in heat! I have coated the bottom of the hood with WD40, which sometimes takes the sound away for a day or two, but it always comes back. I have not been able to narrow down where it could be coming from (more specifically) or have I noticed where my spraying efforts are more effective.

A little background: I love this car!!!! That said, it has been nothing but problems during the year I have had it. The only thing that keeps me paying on it every month (and not selling it) is the feeling I get at around 8500RPM's or when I see a Mustang behind me fishtailing around a corner trying to keep up with me !!! So far, the tranny has had a full rebuild and I had to have the cylinder head replaced due to markings in it and a miss-fire problem. The $12,000 tab for these two fixes were luckily picked up by Honda care after some aggressive persuasion by a friend of mine who happens to be an attorney. The way I see it, I have a brand new engine....what else could go wrong.....let me find some wood to knock on! Thanks!

Oh yeah one more:

When the fan kicks on immediately after starting the engine, it makes a high pitched wistle or squeal. It didn't always do this. I took it in to Honda and they said it was a loose hose somewhere. They fixed it free of charge, but it started up again recently. I just moved and am no longer close to that dealer. The local Honda dealer is a rip-off (they charged me $50 to tell me that it would cost at least $500 to fix the rattle in the dash), so I would like to do it myself. Any ideas?

1. I have no clue.
2. Try to lower the hood latch, its mounted on a vertical beam in front of the radiator.
3. Your fan bearings may be dirty?!? Spray WD40 there.

Good Luck.

The flywheel makes a buzzing noise after down shifting. I believe this is common on S2k's.

I read up on "clutch buzz". This does not seem to be my problem. The buzz comes from the center of the dash-just under it. Is there a way for me to somehow shove some sort of padding under the dash without removing it? Thanks for the help so far everyone!

I apologize for reviving a semi-old thread but I also have the same buzz under my dash at the exact location you mentioned. Anyone have any ideas what this could be? And suggestions for fixing?
