Default losing power near revlimit

i have an AP1 with exhaust and intake. When i accelerate, it pulls nice and hard, vtec engages normal and you can feel/hear it. But around 8k you can start to feel the power fade away...its totally pointless to even rev all the way to 9,000.

What do you think it could be? i have raced a stock AP1 and im a tad faster, just up top it feels weak...

I have yet to change my spark plugs so im hoping thats it, can i just go to autozone/advanced/o' reileys and ask for the OEM NGK's or should i get a specific plug?

It could be your exhaust and intake.

I have noticed this even on stock ap1s. If you check out dyno sheets you'll see that the power peaks at 8300 and begins to either level off or start to drop down slightly.

Later 02-03 ap1s have leaner fuel maps which in turn give better mid range and also seem to hold power all the way to 9k better than the early ap1s.

These facts could be compounded by your mods and the fact you haven't tuned for them.

i bought the car as a trade in at a chrysler dealership, they had cheap oil in it and a chrylser oil filter...they probably put AC DELCO plugs in it or some sh*t...

there is a purpose to rev to 9. its so that you do not fall under vtec when you shift.

So you don't fall out of the power band rather.

peak power is at 82-8300 RPMs......... so you will feel a pull all the way to that, but once your past 8300 its just going to feel weak,

but you are still accelerating, even tho its feels like its not accelerating anymore rev the gear all the way out, this car moves the best by shifting at 9k an 3 blinks

...this could also be fuel related. Maybe you have a dirty fuel filter, or a pump that's starting to go outta style.

Yeah, I'm sure that's it. Why not go to the dealer and buy a new one?

(Just a hint here, this car doesn't even have a fuel filter....)
