It is in the bottom half of the engine, where bottoms of the pistons are, inside, and they squirt oil at the bottoms of the pistons to keep them cool and lubricated. 00-03 S2Ks supposedly have crappy ones.

I would stick with the oem. Sometimes these problems are caused by the most basic things....on the other hand, sometimes there not.Make sure you have a good connection on your gauge.

And i had this expieriance on a 358 dirt modified so it was deffinitly very different.

good luck!

7 bar (approx 101 psi) is good pressure at the top end. If you had a squiter problem, or oil pump issue, its clearly not showing at WOT.

I'm guessing that you just started noticing this? You had had the gauge and have not had a warning until recently?

When you are slowing to idle, does the engine stutter, or appear to die? I've noticed sometimes my RPM's fall around 500 or so and the pressure will dip around 20psi for a split second.

as long as your pressure is good while cruising (and...in basically every other situation other than idle), I'd just keep monitoring it and not tear anything apart unless it gets worse.

If its bogging at idle, it may be something not related to the oil system at all.

If you recently changed oil with a thinner oil, or diff filter like some had suggested then that may be a reason as well. keep us posted!

thanks for the feedback Nate

To answer your questions

1. Guage were on all along and the warning only caame on recently.

2.slowing to an idle the engine DOES stutters at times. RPM falls to 600+? and the pressure only dips for a split second as you mentioned.

3.Bogging might be a possiblity in the humid conditions around here in Singapore, but as mentioned this issue only happens recently.

4. A fresh new oil change with had the problem go away for like a couple of days, now its back again

Mac,

Iwill assumed that the oil filters are OEM but will need to check with the workshop soon. Regarding the gauges, I had the oil temp sensor changed only after 6mths of installing this new set as it was reporting erratic numbers. Sounds dreadful if its a problem with Defi sensors.

Engine oil currently running on Mugen weight is 40.

It's not a multiweight oil? If it isn't a multiweight oil wouldn't 40 weight be too high?

the thing is i had the oil cooler installed for the longest time and the problem only come on now.

anyway what I did was a compression test. 220 all round, piston seals all lookng good accordingly to the mechanic.

oh well, set the warning at 1 bar. sometimes i see the reading on the oil pressure as low as 1.4. urgh
