Default Losing no oil normal?

I have just hit 4000mi on my car. I hit vtec quite often and my oil levels never change. I just got done with the Florida Mega Meet, where I was pretty much in vtec all day long driving all over Florida. Still my oil is at the same level. But it is a little bit darker now! Shouldn't the oil deplete a little while hitting vtec? I remember my car sucked up oil in vtec on my Prelude! I am trying to decide when to change my oil. Either now, or wait for the 7500 mark. I have read that Honda puts a certain oil in at first to make sure everything seals up ok? And you should have this oil for the first 7500-10000miles? I have no idea. Opinions? I know I am staying away from synthetic until 100000. Just don't know when I should change my oil, and don't know why my oil stays at the same levels. Good or bad thing?

No oil loss here also. I'm approaching 15k miles and change my oil according to the severe maintenance schedule (3750 miles).

It has been reported that the AP2 models do not burn oil as much as the AP1 did.

I used to own an 2002 model and that thing went through about a quart in between oil change intervals.

Like I already stated in the other thread, you really need to read your owner's manual so that you can clear up some of these confusing issues for yourself.
Take note of the parameters by which you drive your car as explained in the definition of "normal" and "severe". There is NO confusion if you read it carefully.
As for the "special" factory oil, I have my own beliefs about this and I've posted this on many occasions in the past, so I won't bore you with it again.
Here too, you must read the manual. Your oil change interval (even the very first one) is dictated by which schedule applies to your type of driving. Mileage and time will always supercede any beliefs in "special" oil or voodoo or Pixie Dust.

As Ken said, AP2s seem to have had the oil use issue taken care of. Honda did something different. What that was, is yet to be clearly stated or discovered. My theory is that they changed the composition of the cylinder liners slightly and/or went with a different piston ring. It doesn't really matter. AP2 owners don't have the same concerns about oil useage as AP1 owners do.

Read it, guess I will be changing my oil tomorrow .

Sometimes reading all the opinions of people on this forum confuses you more then before. But overall I gain knowledge!

Yeah, ap2 doesn't lose as much oil from my experience comparing with friends with ap1s. During the Dragon, 10-15mins of constant vtec and not a single drop of loss. Still should check every once in a while though to be on the safe side

My AP1 has 80k of hard driving and didn't burn a drop of oil except when I tracked it. Even that burning went away when I intalled Krank vents, which eliminated the oil being sucked into the intake on hard turn throttle transitions.

My '04 goes 5k between changes and does not lose more than 1/8 qt. No track time though.

My 2005 needed a half quart at about 2,000 miles. I inserted and removed the dipstick and wiped it several times on both sides because oil can drip on it, which can be misleading. I hope my oil consumption gets better as the engine continues to break in.

I changed my oil at 3000 miles on my 2005, is that a bad thing? I dont really drive hard for those 3000 miles (occasionally), and took me about 8 months to get 3000 miles.

No. If you feel your car falls under the "severe" schedule, then you did the right thing.

BTW, just a bit of a nitpick. You should have changed the oil and filter at 6 months or 3750 miles, whichever comes first. In your case, TIME will always supercede mileage. However, a 2 month delay is not something I'd lose any sleep over.
