Default loose rear axle nut, ? best way to re-tighten

i suspect my "creaking noise is loose rear axle nut, probably left side.

can i just torque up to spec, 181 ft-lb ?

how do you lift the locking tab, just pry it up?

should i remove nut completely and oil spindle and then re-torque?

you can tighten it with wheel on ground??

thanks.....i need to go change my spark plug fluid now!!!
