Default Looking for an engine for an '01

Well, with just a shade under 200,000 miles I just learned that I'm going to need a valve job. As that's about $1,600 - and the rest of the engine still has almost 200,000 miles on it - I figure that I might look into replacing the engine wholesale.

My mechanic suggested a Japanese take-out engine. Has anyone here any experience with these?

In any case, I'd appreciate any suggestions on where to go for a reliable 2.0 litre S2000 engine.

Thanks!

Japanese wholesale is hit or miss. With 200K I think your car part of your life; as is mine. Personally I would consider hitting up a major performance builer for the F20C. In Line Pro, Comptech, or one of the others. A standard build would be esoteric to them. That's what I would do.........

I'd say find a used motor from a trustworthy seller and swap it in.

That was my plan. It was for help identifying a trustworthy seller that I was seeking advice here.

Ah, sorry was very late here was pretty tired and I'm a bad enough reader when I'm not tired. Haha.
As skeptical as it seems, I'd wait for one to pop up locally, and before purchasing have a compression and leak down test done on it.
You could have one shipped too, but I'd be weary.

One reason is that you can still buy a new engine from honda. (Which I don't think is possible for F20C's in the US anymore)

If you can find an early F22c you can still run it with your ecu. F22c + a 9K tach = Win
