Why don't you just sell the car and buy a new one when you get back. Think about all the value it will lose just sitting there. I don't know if you have your own garage but if not then thats a lot of money for 2 years of storage.

Only jack the car up partially.
Fill the tires with Nitrogen a few tire places are advertising this these days for everyday driving but Nitrogen does not erode rubber like oxygen does so this will help with the tires.

Given the amount I've spent on the car to date ... think of the intrinsic value that I would loose. I have no desire to sell the car and didn't buy it as an investment. When I return I'll probably buy another one as my other daily driver!

Leave the soft top up. if it is even a little damp it will shrink and rot folded up.

I'm not sure vinyl will shrink or rot.

I thought it was canvas Either way it will hold its shape, not get mildew, or crease if it is up.

Nope, it's plastic (vinyl). But you're right about long term folding. However, like I posted earlier, a little precaution at the time of unfolding will make it OK. I think he's needing to have the hardtop on or else he'll have to find a place to store it too. Personally, if I had the space, I'd prefer to have the soft top UP, but if the soft top is clean and treated just before storage, I think having it folded for 2 years is do-able.

ps. Luke, if you treat the soft top with stuff that is meant for a canvass top, the results may be disappointing. Some products may even be alarming.

It is vinyl. It's texture makes it look like canvas.
