Locked out of 5th and 6th
So I get some new tires today. 30 minutes after I got them put on, I get a nice fresh screw in the front right. Well I just plug it up, whatever. I'm pissed.
I'm driving home carefully as to not blow out my tire, and while on the highway I put it in 6th from 5th. It revs and doesn't go in (even though the stick is in the 6th position), I put it in neutral rev to match and try to put it in 6th again. It grinds before I even have the clutch out all the way. I try to put it in 5th, its blocked. I try to put it in 6th again, its blocked (no grind). I put it in 4th after revving to match and it goes in like butter. Than I shift to 5th and 6th like butter. The whole drive home the gearbox acted normally and very smooth. I tested going through all the gears 3 times and it was fine. What happened?! Should I be worried or should I just write it off as a fluke?
P.S. I never skip shift, never launch the car, and shift/downshift carefully. Bad S2000 day
P.S.S. I would also like to note that my gearbox has been extraordinarily smooth the last 4-5 days. I can use one finger to shift literally, I was extremely happy about this...
