Hey gang. Has anybody permanently installed a wideband o2 sensor with the stock header? Can you simply swap out the stock o2 sensor and put the wideband in its place or do you need to install it in a different location? If not in the stock location what would be the best location?
Bad idea to install in the header -- too hot and too close to the engine. Use the front O2 sensor bung if you don't need your front O2 sensor (i.e., you have an EMS). If you do need your front O2 sensor, have a bung welded near the same location and (this is important) at a slightly downward angle to protect against condensation (just use the angle of the stock bung as a guide).

Sorry about the confusion -- I hadn't realized the stock piece extended so far. I ditched it when I had the turbo installed, and I just assumed that it turned downward and then bolted to a downpipe. But, yes, that's where the bung ought to be, and even I'll go buy some toilet paper...
so the verdict is another bung hole (so punny every time) near the first o2 sensor? i am going to be using the stock header and computer for now but will have a vortech. i want to be able to continually monitor a/f ratios via wideband o2.

yeah, you have two options for the sensor, in the cat and before the cat (header, down-pipe, crack pipe whatever ) I would think you want the wideband in the header, in front of the cat. I will be putting a wideband in the header pictured above, running an ems, and not using a second o2 sensor, unless I can figure out a benefit to using it
