Default "liquid gasket"..... is it rtv

sealing up a leak this week between the gearbox and tail-shaft assembly, can i use hightemp rtv, black gasket maker for the mentioned "liquid gasket" in the manual?

also it was a bolt that came out that cause the leak, can i replace that bolt and correct the leak if the liquid gasket that is in there isnt torn?

If you're missing a bolt, replace that first and go from there.

It's gasket not leak stopper. To do it right you need to take it apart clean it, apply liquid gasket and put it back. If you just patch it oil will go around it and it will fall out sooner or later.

Sound like if you just put the bolt back on it should fix it. You might want to put some Tread lock on that bolt. Make sure you clean it real good both bolt and inside the hole. There are so many tread lock choose the right one.

Regarding Liquid Gasket. HondaBond is what Honda sells - the important element to consider is that you use a grey RTV - grey is designed to make a positive seal with aluminum - hence the color. Using blue or black may not give the long-term results one would want.

Plus, grey is sensor-safe for downstream devices susceptible to damage from volatiles.
