lining the stock airbox?
Hey all. I was just curious if anyone had lined the inside of their airbox with heat shielding tape, and if it would be remotely adventageous. I was thinking of using the Spoon tape, though I sincerely doubt the brand will have much to do with it. Just wanting to try and prevent as much heatsoak as possible, being that I have a snorkle and don't get to drive above 60 constantly....

I've covered mine with DEI heat shield tape but not from the inside. I've applied it on the outside so it can reflect away the heat coming from the engine, it won't reach the plastic of the box.

I'd spend the extra time on it to make it smooth and clean looking... I wouldn't want it to screw up my chances at shows... would a thin layer of the tape to the walls of the box restrict air flow that much? I would figure it would be so minute that a dyno wouldn't even register a loss.....

It's tough to say. Without really seeing how it's done, there are things to consider such as the airflow over a different material, the smoothness of your tapejob, etc. You really may just want to try, and test it out with the butt dyno. In all honesty, maybe it will do nothing.
