Thanks for the input on what I have suspected for some time. I am going to run the stock setup untill it fails (maybe 2,3 or 4 years) then upgrade to your clutch setup.

I would do it now, but my car only has 8,700 miles on it and making the switch now would not be cost effective considering my car is still under warrenty.

It would really be nice to have a little bit stiffer pressure plate as when I speed shift near 9k, the clutch just doesn't seem to bite the way I would like it to.

It just feels somewhat mushy as I am engaging a gear during a upshift. For example, when I rev up to 9k then speed shift, then hammer the throttle, it feels like it slips ever so slightly which would result in lost acceleration.

Oh well, I'll have to wait a couple more years

Yeah....I have a MY '00 and had 42,000 miles on it when I switched. The difference is night and day and with speed shifting..........you'll love it. Right now I can easily chirp the hell out of it in between 2nd and 3rd and have even been able to chirp between 3rd and 4th (rare occasion). Run until you cant deal with the stock setup and then change it.

Let me clarify ... Swan ... the quote in my last post was because I have the same clutch setup and that I agree with you completely ... the other part was for frans2k.

how different is the feel of a stock clutch against a act clutch? for instance on moving the car from a stop light? or going in reverse?
