That looks like an awesome hack for the quickjacks. One of the big drawbacks has to be moving those things around and that helps a lot. I've thought about the quickjacks but not being able to get in the side would definitely be a pita for me. I dream about an Atlas FM9SL recessed in the ground for my house. A friend of mine has a couple of these Atlas lifts at his shop recessed in the ground and they are awesome. I don't wrench enough at home to justify the cost though.

The EZcarlift is on wheels in the down position and just slides under the car from either side. The wheels are on the part that lifts so once it starts to lift it's firmly on the floor. It can be equipped with retractable casters allowing the car to be moved by hand when on the lift (I don't have these). Since it's all one piece this lift does not store as conveniently as the Quickjack. Mine is stored vertically against the garage wall. Just lower it and slide it under the car. Can be disassembled into 4 pieces and can be stored or transported like the Quick jack if needed.
