Keeps fluids or gases from going out unwanted. Hence the term "keep it in check."

It has tiny spring loaded valve inside the nozzle. The pring is probably broken. Just order a new nozzle and replace it.

The check valve is not usually part of the nozzle. On most other Honda cars, it's somewhere in the line near the nozzle. I could be wrong on the S2k though.
