leaking hexagon bolt!

wassup everyone!! my first time posting and a new owner of a 00 S2000 with 138k miles..was passed down to me by my brother in law..he never drove it hard and and its bone stock..my only problem is theres a leak at the front of the motor where the hexagon or octagon shape bolt is..is there any way of just tightening the bolt to stop the leak? and the infamous bog is still happening but not as often..when the car is somewhat cold still even tho i let it warm up for 2-3 mins in the morning. i did the MAP whack and cleaned the IAC 2 days ago..all help appreciated..and shifting to 3rd feels like its gonna grind but it doesnt.

thanks...is it hard to work on that hex head bolt?? and the bogging, it has really been cold here in austin, texas lately..around 45 degrees..last night was 28 so maybe that could've contributed to the bogging you think?

i doubt the coldness would make the car bog, im up in Ohio and mine doesnt bog and we're waayyy colder then 45degrees ![smile.gif](https://www.s2ki.com/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif)
but the bolt shouldnt be too hard if u know how to hold a wrench. just loosen it (was told it was an 8mm allen), loosen it enough to see the o-ring and should be easy to replace. but DO NOT loosen it all the way. oh and welcome

ok so enough to see the O ring..gotcha!! so just incase it got loosent all the way too much what could happen..sucks to just now learning a diff motor..im so used to B-series..thanks for the help tho

If you loosen it all the way and remove the bolt for some reason, you risk dropping the main cam gear into the timing chain area a little bit...
You don't have to pull theb olt all the way out, and it is still a good idea to do this with the valve cover off, so that you can actually see what is going on with the gear and the ever-so-infamous washer...
The o-ring is about 1/8" in from the edge of the bolt, so it doesn't have to be unthreaded much at all to be able to get to it.
Also, it may not hurt to also remove the TCT so that it isn't applying pressure to the chain while you're doing all of this...
