Leak from rear (output) of transmission
I recently bought an '01 with about 75K miles on it.
After a few weeks of owning it, I went through all the normal fluid replacements, including new OEM Honda MTF.
I have noticed a small leak (a few drops a week) of MTF coming from the rear (output end) of the transmission, where the driveshaft exits. It looks like at normal MTF fill levels, there shouldn't be MTF sitting against that seal, I'm wondering if I could have overfilled the gearbox slightly because of the angle the car was at when I filled it? I put it on ramps at the front but did not raise the rear of the car. It took about the right qty. of MTF, but as I was using a pump, it was hard to tell the exact amount that ended up in the trans.
Anyone have experience with anything similar? I'm hoping that the leak slows down as the fluid level "corrects" itself and hopefully there's no lasting damage to the seal.
Thanks!

The secondary shaft is fed by an oil jet that is supposed to lubricate the thrust bearings. There is a normal oil seal right at the companion flange. Shouldn't be too hard to just pull the flange and replace the seal and locknut.

Thanks, SgtB.
I'm going to give it a little time and see if it settles in, but I imagine I will likely have to replace the seal. I found the section in the shop manual with a view of that seal behind the companion flange.
Is it possible to pull the prop shaft without taking the rear end down?

Yep. The prop shaft uses cv joints so it can be compressed a little to get it out of the way. You can probably just unbolt the transmission side joint and let it hang against the guard loop.
