Default Kumoto drain valve+JB Weld+sripped pan= No worries?

Well the previous owner obviously did not understand what torque is, so my pan is stripped. I really like the idea of the kumoto quick valve, but I dont like the thought of drilling into the drain pan, shooting metal shards on the underside of the block...

I have a small amound of good thread towards the back of the threaded part, so I feel like if I use JB weld like thread locker, I wont have to worry about it coming loose. I once had a Miata with a hole in the engine block, and JB did the trick.

Sooooo, can anyone see any downside to this? As long as I never need to take it out, it seems pretty fool proof.
Thanks,
Greg

Not to be a spelling nazi, but just fyi, it's a "fumoto" drain valve, not "kumoto".

Anyways, please don't use JB weld. That stuff is garbage and should only be used in a pinch. It's definitely not meant for long term fixes... I don't care if you've used it before on a spaceship and made it to the moon, its just not meant for being used long term and anyone with a significant amount of knowledge would recommend against using it long term (or at all in some cases)...

Just buy a new/used pan with threads that are in good condition, or if you want to retap the threads on your current pan, just take it off before doing so and you won't have to worry about throwing metal shards in the motor...

Buy an oversized self tapping drain plug. The repair will be 100% percent.

Oh, whoopsI searched "Fumoto" on google and here, but I guess I just wasnt paying attention. And Billman, I was tossing around that idea, but those things are such a bear to get out. I would also just love to have a fumoto because of the simplicity, and I also intend on making a front splitter in the near future, and would like to not have to take it off every oil change. Now if Fumoto made a self tapping valve...

You could always buy a new oil pan. It's pricey but you would be able to use a Fumoto valve again and have the peace of mind that the threads aren't jacked up.

An oversized plug will cut a normal thread. It will come on and off just like a stock bolt. If you saw one that was tough to get out it wasn't done right.

I know how it works, I work at a certain oil change facility that will go un named... You just have to wrench them all the way out and its a pain.

If you install the bolt correctly, it's just like the normal bolt. All it is is a tap bolt. Why would that be harder to remove? We're not talking about cross-threading a bigger bolt in. It's a one piece tap plug.
