Knocking noise on idle
I know there are threads on this already but can find no definitive answer. I have an intermittent knocking noise on idle. It happens hot or cold and is there sometimes and others is quite. I done the valve adjustment and it seems to have helped. There is no obvious signs of wear under the cover, the TCT was refurbed not long ago and i have run the car with no belt to rule out pulleys. Anyone got any ideas ? doesn't seem like rod bearing play as it doesn't increase with rpm.

Is that the sound that does an intermittent double tap kind of thing? I couldn’t quite hear from vid but that’s what it sounded like. I had a similar sound and it would also click when i revved the motor up. Turned out to the be the main belt tentioner itself. But you said you ran with no belt and still heard the sound, so that would rule that one out. The most obvious then would be either a lose valve or the tct still acting up. Not sure what else it would be.

Cheers @s2000Junky , Ive recently replaced the belt tensioner as the bolt sheered on changing the belt, was brittle as hell. Like i said its been run with no belt, which means if it was a pulley it would be crank, although it seems a tad far fetched. But yes it was the double tap noise you hear. I have a video of what it was like before, ill upload it and see what you think.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=buMasCHh8Vg this was the noise prior to the oil change and valve clearances being done, sorry for the spelling on the title, was in a rush. It is nowhere near as bad but is still present.

Does it stop when you press in the clutch?

I originally thought about trying that but forgot last time i was out. I'll have a go when im out next. Would the TCT make noise even when cold, as it was a horrific rattle when hot. Any other thoughts on what to look at ?
