Default knock sensor broke off in block...no bueno

So i went to replace my knock sensor the other night (from the bottom of the car) and the 24mm head of it broke off. now i am left with this. This thing is in there tight! i removed the intake manifold to get a better grasp at it and this is what i have left. I tried some vice grips and channel locks but the soft metal on the sensor just wants to shred. I cannot get this to budge. I guess my real questions is, if i cannot get this out of there, can i drill and re-tap (beacuse i think that's maybe my only option)? Anyone else been in this situation before with the knock sensor?

Use a reverse threaded extractor. You may need to drill out the center of it a little more, but I would advise against drilling it out completely and retapping. That is completely unnecessary IMO. Another thing you could try is to use a dremel and cut a phillips head into the remainder and use an impact screwdriver (the kind you hit with a hammer) to remove the piece.

Have you tried using liquid wrench or similar on it ? Damn i have never seen this on a Honda before as thats REALLY on there . Try spraying some Pb blaster on it and let it sit for a while before you attempt to remove it . If that does not work then you may have to try and freeze it and the surrounding area . Its a bad spot as you know, so much care must be taken . Good luck !!

I soaked it in pb blaster last night but I'm not counting on much. Good call with the dremel and impact, I can try that one

Not the cheapest option but this may work. Induction tool to heat up bolts like a torch but no flame.

Amazon Amazon

Heat is like magic for frozen fasteners.

What is the thread spec for that bolt? I have a new one on order but want to get ahead of it and get it removed.
