key left in ignition indicator stays on when car shut off

My 08' has been doing this since I bought it 8 months ago. Pretty annoying. I found that as I remove the key, I put a little pressure on the key as I pull and twist it out of the ignition. Seems to work fine then. If I were to just turn and pull like normal, the car keeps beeping like the key is in the ignition. Need to find a permanent fix.

Because this is a legit warranty issue, I do not want to pay a canadian dealer to fix a usa honda problem and have not made it to the usa yet. In the mean time the only consistent remedy has been to remove the key somewhat roughly by dragging it out, which makes the sensor recognize that the key has been removed and it works as it was designed. Long term that is going to make the key worn badly.

Ultimate fix is a new key switch as the internal tumbler is hanging up and tells the computor that the key is still in the ignition. That is a pretty easy fix if you do not mind having two keys becuase the new ignition will not match the doors and trunk and glove box. Since I could get it done under warranty by going to a usa dealer,(it took two trips becuase they did not believe me when I said there was a service bulliton describling the problem)
they replaced all the locks in the car plus the ignition and I got a new key set. It took half a day to do the work and then another half day becuase they could not figure out why the airbag warning immobilizer warning or something light would not go out. They took it apart several times and spent a lot of time on the phone so I am sure they wished they never saw me. They decided they had to order the steering column unit and said sorry, and sent me on my way. Within two miles the light went out and never came back on. Turns out when you replace the switch you have to drive the car to get things resyncronized. They were driving it around the parking lot and it was not fast enough to do the trick. If anyone else runs into the light on after doing the switch, take the car for a 10 minute drive and it will likely solve itself. Happy motoring
