K20C1 Crate Motors available to "everyone" now

Though there are definitely reasons to be critical, this is awesome! This is a really cool offering that should result in a great package. 300hp/300tq with a flat power curve would be tons of fun in a s2000. It's also got the right badge on it which apparently counts for something. I wish this project much success and hope the drivetrain fairs well with the changes. I actually think the K20C1 would be better suited to the NSX chassis for a bunch of reasons but understand why the S2000 is a better choice for the project, overall.

I've had engine swapped cars and have friends that have LS V8 S10 pickups that are street legal in Calif.
Try google, Are engine swaps legal in Calif. Hell yes it is. You have to put a engine from the same year or newer and it has to be based on the same GVWR. All that means is you can't put a truck engine that came out of a truck with a 6000+ GVWR into a S2000. There's companies that will do the swap and all the DMV paper work for you if you don't want to do it yourself.
If the engine went bad in our '06 S I would definitely look into this. There's not one convertible out there that we like as much as the S2000, that's why we have put over 160k miles on her in the last 11 years.
Don't shy away from a engine swap(done right and legal)

Hopefully SOS and/or Evasive can figure that out and do this DMV and CARB BAR referee paperwork and hurdles for you... otherwise, it'll be a pia fro Cali customers (back and forth with BAR testing and DMV paperwork, months to hear back for comments/needed-fixes/approval, risk of not getting approved after all that money and effort, etc., etc.).
I think this is the most important step for them... as CA has a large potential customer demographic for this swap.

The idea is pretty cool , but the price will be astronomical . Direct injection is a pain and no where near as reliable as good old fashioned port fuel injection . I replace injectors all the time at the dealership and high pressure pumps on occasion . If you cant find an F series then use a k20/24 for a fraction of the price and then bolt on whatever you want . It does suck that Honda stopped producing short blocks though .

They told me it's strictly for "off road / race use only" and have zero intention of making it street-legal.
Just another crazy/unique engine-swap project on YT. Dime a dozen.
Pretty d*amn useless if you ask me.

Well, suppose one could source a CARB legal K20C1 from a wrecked Civic Type-R, and then SOS would have done the legwork in terms of how to swap it in? I don't know how the "OEM emissions equipment" requirement would work though..
