Default K&N Typhoon Kit

I put one on my car, but when it came time to put the splash guard back on, the new cold air intake was in the way of the right side recessed "push pin slot" (don't know what else to call it).
I called K&N the day after Christmas and of course the engineers who designed it weren't in. No one has gotten back to me, yet.
Has anyone else run into this?
Just how important is it for me to get the splash guard back on?

Have you driven the car around yet? What does the new CAI feels like?

No, we got 9 inches of snow on Christmas. It melted the last couple of days, but right now it's raining - might get a little break this afternoon - if I do, I'm gonna try it out...

I did get a chance to get it on the road a little bit that afternoon. It "sounds" faster, and "feels" faster...of course, after putting something new on, that could just be the "want it to be" factor at work. I won't really know until I get a chance to run against the clock...

Sounds very good.
How much did you pay for it?

I saw this kit at the SEMA show a few months ago... Looks just like the AEM kit, so I would assume it sounds very similar and has similar gains.

Full size pics available HERE

Cost was $366. I called K&N, who said I could get it a lot cheaper on the Internet than what they charge. They were right.

Thanks for the pictures - that's it. Makes the engine compartment a lot better looking...
