After driving the car some more with the stock exhaust back on, the K&N is definitely louder than the stock airbox with the lid off.

it looks like the intake box might block a strut bar if there was one. any ideas if this is true or not?

^I think it depends on the design of the bar.

is it necessary to relocate it or can you just leave it where its at. i saw couple of threads where i see the horn on the passenger side struts fender wall. probably just a personal preference.

I just finished installing my K&N system and when I started my car up, all of a sudden their was alot of smoke bellowing out of my exhaust. it wasnt black or anything, but none the less their was alot more smoke than their was before installing the system. Ive checked and rechecked everything. gone over the instruction manuel over and over again and I just cant figure out where it could have gone wrong. Everything seems to look fine from an installment point of view and I took the car for a test drive and it drives fine. If anything it seems a little more responsive than before and doesnt over heat or anything (although I only took it for a 10 min drive as I didnt want to do any damage to the car.

has anything like this happened to any of you guys who have done the install? or would anybody have any ideas of what it could be?

thanks heaps.

heres a picture of how it looks

is your car still smoking? My guess would be that when you disconnected the coolant lines (under the throttle body) that you did not wipe up the coolant in the throttle body

It still seems to be smoking a bit more than it usually would. and your right, I didnt wipe up the coolant around the throttle body. I didnt really notice any extra coolant around there and wouldnt think it would matter since it travels through the pipe to the throttle body anyway? How would a bit of coolant being left around there cause the smoking? im not questioning your diagnosis, just hoping to understand why this would happen.

thanks

Also if that is the case, that I managed to get a little bit of coolant in the throttle body without relising it, will this do any serious damage? And how do I fix the problem? Do I just Take the piping off and give it a wipe down?
