Maybe bending the mounts is too strong a word. Just a little adjustment "nudge" in small increments is better. The instructions aren't the best. I found I needed a few extra zip ties and a little creativity to get everything really neat.

"nudges" definately sound better =)... I'll give it a go soon as this rain gives in. Thanks.

I have an AP2 yet did not have to move my horn when installing the intake. I was able to get the filter to slip past the horn, it just clears it. Could this mean I mounted it incorrectly somehow (although I don't see how)?

Look at the pics that zeniac posted. The horn is still there. You have to relocate the horn for a Comptech because that one has a lid, which can muffle the sound of the horn. Also, not sure if the Comptech has the room to keep the horn.

Forgive me Dave, but he does mention above that the K&N FIPK requires you to unbolt the horn temporarily to get the filter on. You also told me the same thing a few months back when I asked if the K&N FIPK from an ap1 would fit an ap2. Thats why I was just wondering cuz mine installed just fine and I didn't have to move the horn (its just about an inch clearance).

At the time, I didn't know if the walls of the K&N would interfere with the horn. I knew that the Comptech needed a "relocation" kit for the horn. From that pic, it looks like the horn is well within the boundaries of the walls and you could angle the filter up and get it out without having to move the horn.
Since we last PMd about this, I found a downloadable K&N install manual and it shows that the horn doesn't need to be moved:

Thanks Xviper! I knew I wasn't crazy I was begining to wonder if somehow I bent the kit or something. I was planning on looking over my work in a bit anyway and make sure I did it all correctly. I did it in a hurry as I had to be someplace that night and was wondering if I got all the vacuum and coolant lines right. I'm assuming I did though as I've had it on for a few months and never got a CEL.

This is off topic, but i think i may have installed something wrong because I cannot hear the growl of the intake in first gear. It sounds completely stock until i get to second gear its really wierd.
