Outer Diameter. As long as it says 5/8" and it's a standard drill bit, you're good.

Ok cool, next problem is I cant even do step 3! Pulling out the rubber hose that connects to the intake pipe! And yeah after taking the clamp off of it...

"3. On vehicles equipped with air injection pump, detach the air injection pump hose from the stock intake tube."

So I've taken the metal ring clamp off (with pliers) and pulled and pulled, it doesn't want to come out. I think there is a metal fixing/tube that it is slipped over and it feels like I'm going to rip the factory intake pipe which I'd prefer not to do!

Get a flat blade screwdriver to pry the rubber away so it'll break loose. One problem with just pulling when it's stuck like that is that it will shrink the inner diameter(ID) of the hose and make it even harder to remove.

I'm about to install my FIPK from my 01 on my 08. I had to order the grommet for the temp sensor (K&N gave it to me for free *thank you K&N!*). I also had to get new hoses.

2 questions:
  1. Is there any reason why the rubber hoses from O'Reilly would cause any issues (vs. the silicone hoses provided in the kit). They are all the correct size, btw.
  2. What is the proper way to reset the cars ECU after the install. I've read conflicting procedures.
Thanks for the help

The hoses shouldn't matter. As far the ecu reset question goes, you need to make sure you follow step 1 which is to disconnect the battery. I believe without doing so will cause a cel on first start up (solved by disconnecting then reconnecting the negative terminal).
On first start up, let it idle for 5 or so minutes to allow the ecu to adjust to the intake.

Pull the back up fuse...probably easier than the battery method.
