Default K&N FIPK and Single Exhaust - Need Tune?

I've searched but can't find a specific answer to my question. I have a K&N FIPK right now and want to get a single exhaust (63mm). The question I have is whether this combination will make my car run lean. I have an AP2 and mostly track or autoX the car. Thanks.

your car will run lean, but not lean enough for something major to happen. Many people have this type of setup on their s2k and have logged thousands of miles on it.

there was somebody who dyno'd just the k&n and it was still running rich, so unless an exhaust leans it out even more, you should be okay still. he had an ap2 as well.

My friend recently dyno'd his 04 AP2 with Test Pipe and AEM V2 CAI... His car was just fine... a hair too rich, but thats was it...
It made great power for basically a stock mootor....

i run the fipk with single exhaust. our ecu will make it so things are within a certain parameter, but tuning will always yield the best gains.

You will run leaner than stock but you will still run rich. Once you get headers and test pipe along with that setup, then you might want to get a tune just to be on the safe side.

Our local club tuned and dynoed 13 cars recently. We found that some of the cars ran lean and some ran rich. When adding a single exhaust and intake the ap1 that we dynoed was running very lean in the 14:1 range. We also found a car with just a fipk was running lean as well.

It is worth it to check even a stock car as you never know how it is running till you do so.
If you are in the Atlanta area I would suggest jumping on www.s2katlanta.com and checking out the public events area.
