^^ i presume its because it will lose pressure thus losing HP am i right? how about drilling a hole underneath the box then connecting a flexi pipe leading to the side vent in the bumper? do you think that will gain or lose HP?

loses are typically from catching hot air.

When you pull the lid, you pull in hot air, which has less oxygen in it.

Get the KN. If you don't like it, sell it for 150 bucks or so. Its a fast seller, you'd be out 60 bucks and you'll know if YOU personally like it.

ANY filter in the stock box, with the lid off, will lose signifigant HP.

The K&N is a nice box. It sounds good, and you don't lose HP as the air is pulled from the corner/fender area. Gains are likely small.
significant meaning? 5hp or more?

is this from a standstill or rolling? im just curious. i pulled my stock lid off, and i dont think i noticed a difference, i'll have to do a on and off comparo :shurg:

^standstill. The car basically hesitates for a split second before it starts moving.

You guys get hung up on heat soak to much. You completely refuse to look at the most important part of an intake, the pipe. The pipe length and diameter have a much greater effect on the torque curve than IAT; resonance tuning FTW.

This test was done on an H22 and also on an H23VTEC, so the F22 guys should find this imformative.

Why are we comparing exhaust performance to intake performance again? or was it just necessary to say you had an greddy exhaust?

To the OP; if you decide to buy here's where I bought mine. One of the lowest prices I could find, got to me lightning fast.
