I honestly think that removing the airbox lid sounds better than the FIPK. Removing the airbox lid is louder and deeper sounding than the FIPK. I also had a K&N drop in filter too, so that may have made a difference.

Don't get me wrong, I'm still happy with my FIPK, it still sounds nice and dresses the engine bay up a bit. I really couldn't tell a difference performance wise though. I grabbed mine new off ebay for $215 shipped.

Thats my current setup. K&N drop in with the lid and without. I love the sound just hate the bog on hot days with the lid off

I bought the car with it.

I have no comparison with stock airbox.
All I can say is

K&N + stock exhaust + invidia test pipe. Awesome sound.
With this setup engine sound louder than the exhaust, the invidia test pipe add some little growl to the stock s2k exh. think the same tone as a stock G35 but not same pitch.

FIPK at 9k shift and you will be know why AP1s are called screamers.
