Can anyone tell me what K&N filter will fit the s2000. I looked for RE 8010 but could not find it on online resellers sites? Where did you get yours and what part # was it?

K&N is working on a drop in, no modifications, filter for the car. The part # is E-2435. Who knows when it will be available. I have a never used RE 8010 in the box if you want it cheap!. It requires cutting the air box baffle out. There is a "JR" filter available now. Try the search function for more info.

Allan:

I am interested in the "Real" K & N filter when they release it. Keep us informed.

Allan Hagai:

I installed the RE8010 with no hassles...just need some steady hands to cut up the air box yrself...here's how i did it...

http://pages.quicksilver.net.nz/vivisect/P...ilter/index.htm

Anyway, I recommend this air filter to anyone... I drive my car back to back with both stock and the K&N.

the K&N emphasises on more middle to high end (my senses tell me 6500-9000rpm). The feeling is definately more grunty though... a louder and more agressive sound...

there are two drop in filter replacements.
one is the JR, which is K&N style and has nearly identical dyno results from what I've seen.
the other is the MG racing one (have not seen dynos on it). it's not oiled so easier to maintain.

These are the numbers from VA S2K's dyno back in March:

Max POWER at the wheels
Stock = 199.7
MG Racing = 201.5
JR = 201.6

Max TORQUE at the wheels
Stock = 132.0
MG Racing = 132.2
JR = 133.3

Now, I still don't get why you would get a filter that really wasn't made for the car but I guess each has their own ways. Who was it that used duct tape on the K&N and had it sucked into the engine?

That possibly might be me. I used the cookie cutter "fitting" mod and pieces of the rubber shavings (the rubber part of the K&N somehow was shaved with the cookie cutter) flew into my engine. My stock spark plugs were absolutely covered in some black gunk. Now since I've changed to Denso's my mileage is back again (HOORAAYYY!). Latez!
