K&N Filter on '06 S2
I'm considering a new air filter as a simple first mod on my S2. My only concern is using an oiled filter, I don't know what effect (if any) this will have on the e-throttle body or anything else. I don't know if little drops of oil will wreck the sensors, etc for the throttle, or maybe even hurt emissions devices?
I think some companies, like AEM, have switched to non-oiled filters, which makes me think there must be some reliability advantage, but I may be out to lunch.
Any thoughts?

I have heard of the oil messing with the Mass Airflow Sensor, but I think most cases were becuase of someone over oiling the filter...I have been running a K&N on my Honda since February with no problems, Had one on my Focus for over a year with no problems.

had a k&n on my 03. not sure if i'd put one on my 06. would have rather gone with a foam filter like spoon. of course, a lot more money, but i hate the oilyness(a word?). i remember cleaning the k&n, and it was a pain, especially getting the oiling done right, just too much, and you have to start over.

Did you use the aerosol spray or the tube to relube. The aerosol is much easier to do. I'm suprised you had to clean yours already. Mine is barely dirty.

Awesome, too easy. I still have the aerosol cleaning/oil kit so it should be no problem.
I've also heard that K&Ns (and probably other oiled filters) actually clean the air better when they're a little dirty (the dirt particles like to stick to other dirt particles), so cleaning them too often is actually a bad idea.
