Default K&N AirCharger...10hp increase

Does anyone know anything about the K&N Aircharger? I haven't seen it on any of the threads.

A couple of the So Cal guys were the guinea pigs and fitted with prototypes. They have seen some pretty good RWHP increases, reportedly. You might try looking in the S.Cal owners forum of this board.

What the heck is it? What does it do and how does it do it?

My normal reaction would be a resounding "BS", but not when a company like K&N makes it.

I will say this......those instructions are heck of alot better than those crap 'instructions' supplied with my AEM CAI. The install was relatively easy but the directions for that K&N looks so much clearer.

I haven't been able to find anything in the forums about the AirCharger. But K&N is a quality company, so I trust them.

I went to the K&N website and they have a fair amount of information about it. Go here: http://www.knfilter.com/aircharger/aircharger.htm

Not to be a pessimist, but that doesn't look much different than just removing the cover of the stock airbox. I seriously doubt you will get 10rwhp, especially in the SoCal heat.

I just emailed the K&N people and asked them to provide me any information they have to shed light on what a typical S2k could expect in the way of gains. I mentioned, btw, that I already had a K&N conical filter in the factory airbox. I am confident that they have tested the system, but not necessarily on our S2k. Frankly, I rather doubt that they have ANY data bearing directly on the S2k, but I hope that I am wrong.

Brain has one of the early prototypes, his car was the test mule. Notion I believe is getting another one as well for a test fit. Brians car stock dyno'd out at around 210, a huge number. Reatherconsistant. From what I heard K&N ran about 8 baselines a couple of times over a day. Then fitted about 5 different bends and filters.

They started with a general chot air intake and now is runnning the pipe all the way under the car and using the new open swirl filter. Loooks like a good system. Softer then the Injen in sound. More like a supduded airbox removal without the resonance problems.

I have a picture I will link it today or tommorow.
